History of the UPI Research Ethics Committee

The Research Ethics Committee (KEP) of Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI) was established on September 19, 2023, under Rector Decree Number 2167/UN40/HK/2023 and chaired by Prof. Dr. Budi Mulyanti. KEP was formed to support researchers in obtaining ethical clearance. Through this committee, researchers from within and outside UPI can access ethical clearance services. Ethical clearance is a written statement issued by a Research Ethics Committee for studies involving living beings, humans, children, vulnerable subjects, animals, or other risk-related aspects. It serves as an initial safeguard to determine the ethical feasibility of research and helps researchers meet requirements for reputable scientific publication. In line with UPI's direction toward becoming a World Class University, research at UPI is expected to meet international standards, including through the issuance of ethical clearance.

The Research Ethics Committee is expected to achieve the following goals:

  1. To serve as an institution under the coordination of the Office of the Vice Rector for Research, Business, and Cooperation of UPI that issues ethical clearance.
  2. To serve as an institution under the coordination of the Office of the Vice Rector for Research, Business, and Cooperation of UPI that contributes income generation for UPI.
